Nellie Hooker Brewster, 81, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Sunday morning, March 31, 2019, in Carthage. Nellie Faye Hooker Brewster was born on Feb. 16, 1938, in Panola County, TX to the late R.T. and Lorine Beck Hooker. She attended Turner High School and married Oscar Brewster, Jr. on July 14, 1956, in Henderson, TX. Mrs. Nellie loved cooking, fishing, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Brewster was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Brewster and siblings, Charles Ray Hooker, Vernon "Babe" Hooker (Ura Lee), Leo Hooker, Bobby Lynn Hooker, and Doris Jean Hooker.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Brewster, Jr. of Carthage; children, Sebrena Brewster Sims of Mesquite, Osdale Brewster (Natalie) of Carthage, Syletha Brewster of Carthage, and Cashona Brewster of Thibodaux, LA; siblings, James A. Hooker (Wyvone) of California, Billy Lynn Hooker of Dallas, R.B. Hooker of Carthage, Roy Daniel Hooker of Mesquite, Betty Hall of Dallas, Cleo Rayson (Daniel Staten) of Carthage, Doris Ann Pope of Dallas, and Peggy Thompson (Elvin) of Carthage; grandsons, Wendell Sims, Jr. of Mesquite, TX, Cameron Brewster  and Jashon Adams of Beckville; granddaughters, Telisha Sims of Mesquite, TX, Christiana Guthrie (Darrell) of Tyler, TX, Dr. Dominique Brewster of Houston, TX, Collandra Allison (Jarred) of Bastrop, TX, Alysia Mona Jefferson of Mesquite, TX, Amanda Nsofor (Constantine) of Little Elm, TX and Harmony Jones of Thibodaux, LA; sisters-in-law, Lona Phillips of Los Angeles, CA, Alice Tutt of Pittsburg, CA and Doris Foreman of Pacoima, CA.; brothers-in-law, Arthur "Pete" Brewster (Cecil) of Henderson, TX and William "Bill" Brewster (Odessa) of Houston, TX and a host of other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Bell officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hollands Quarter Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Anthony Gibson, James Hall, Benny Pope, Jimmy Rayson, Purvis Sutton and Jarest Thomas.  Honorary Pallbearers are Jashon Adams, Kerry Allen, Andre Brewster, Antonio Brewster, Wendell Sims and Jerry Jones, Jr.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Panola Nursing Home and Hearts Way Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Brewster.
