A memorial service for Mrs. Nell L. Deppe, age 89, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Carthage with Rev. Jennene Laurnec officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Deppe died peacefully on Jan. 18, 2012, at Sentara Nursing Center Windermere in Virginia Beach with her family by her side.
Nell Louella Mims Deppe was born in Adrian, GA on April 15, 1922, to Cephas and Docia Mimbs and was raised in Lakeland, FL. She and her husband moved to Texas in 1949, living and raising a family in Carthage. She was a loving wife and mother, a wonderful homemaker, and a dedicated worker who was recognized as the Panola County Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year in 1978. Mrs. Deppe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter F. Deppe who passed away on Aug. 20, 1989; three sisters; and two brothers.
Mrs. Deppe is survived by her children and their spouses, Jim and Ellen Deppe of Virginia Beach, VA, Kathryn and John Hults of Temecula, CA, Tom and Debbie Deppe of Jacksonville, FL, and Louis and Elizabeth Deppe of Roswell, GA and 10 grandchildren, Russell, Walt, Morgan, Kit, Allison, Austin, Sarah, Laura, Ben, and Hannah Deppe.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sentara Nursing Center Windermere for the love and care that they gave to Nell over the past eight years as she made the long journey into Alzheimer's disease. Nell's family will always be grateful to the Windermere family for treating her with dignity and respect every step along the way.
