Nelda was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on April 20, 1951. She passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2021, after fighting cancer for two years. She was the only child of John F. and Margaret Deason and spent most of her early years in Carthage, TX. She graduated Carthage High School, and attended Panola Collage. She married Bid Nutt in 1981, and moved from Shreveport, Louisiana to Houston where she later graduated from the University of Houston. Nelda retired from HISD after 19-years of service. She was quite the grammar expert and proper diction was expected, of course. She enjoyed her family and visiting with her many friends and school chums. There was always time for another luncheon, shopping venture or buying a new novel.

She is survived by her husband, Bid Nutt and her cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Gary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
