A funeral service for Mrs. Nannie Ray, 95, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Deadwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ray passed away on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, in Carthage.
Nannie Belle Corley Ray was born on June 15, 1919, in High Point, MS to the late William Archie and Lula Jane Bagwell Corley. She married William Henry Ray and he preceded her in death on Apr. 26, 1983. She worked as an LVN at Panola General Hospital for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Ray moved to Carthage in 1952, from Beaumont. She was also preceded in death by one son, William Albert Ray.
Mrs. Ray is survived by her son, Marvin Ray and wife Jeanette of Carthage; daughter, Dorothy Cawthorn of Monroe; step-daughters, Norma Davis and husband David of Crosby and Barbara Grubbs of Waller; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Anderson, Richard Anderson, Kevin Goyne, Albert Ray, Randy Wilkerson, Erwin Lejune, and Bubba Ingram.
