Funeral services for Mrs. Nan Gibbs, age 69, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow at Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery near DeBerry. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gibbs passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in Longview.

Nan Ruth Wheless Gibbs was born on June 28, 1942, in Logansport, LA to Walter Orie and Maudie Bell Wheless Cordova. Mrs. Gibbs graduated from Logansport High School. She married Floyd "Buddy" Gibbs on Aug. 13, 1969, in Marshall. She loved to play pokeno and bingo and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has lived in DeBerry for the past 42 years, moving from Logansport and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, "Hey Man" Wheless.

Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her husband, Buddy Gibbs of DeBerry; one son, Gene Gibbs and special friend Bobbie Riddle of DeBerry; two daughters, DeVonna Warner and husband Wendell of Waskom and Margaret Shimell and husband Leonard of Splendora; four brothers, John Wheless of Joaquin, Kenneth Wheless and wife Linda of Nacogdoches, Walter Orie Wheless and wife Lisa of Mansfield, and Billy Cordova and wife Marie of Mansfield; two sisters, Ann Anderson of Logansport, LA and special friend Webber Cole, and Mattie Kay Bush of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Jody Pieper, Wendy Warner, Shyann Gibbs, and Victoria Bolan; and two great-grandchildren, Carlee and Case Pieper. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Gibbs.

Serving as pallbearers are Jody Pieper, Leonard Shimell, Wendell Warner, Danny Cole, Ronnie Oden, Corey Baird, and William Royce Cole. Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Ben Williams and Jeff Lindsey.
