Myrtle L. Soape, 84, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday night, March 23, 2017, in Carthage. Myrtle Laverne Cheshire Soape was born on Oct. 30, 1932, in Panola County to the late Levi and Theo Fay Adair Cheshire. Mrs. Soape worked at The Coffee Shop, at Golden Eye Associates, and as a dress shop owner and operator in Carthage for many years. She lived most of her life in Carthage and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her children, Michael Steven Soape and Patricia Bohler.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Rebekah and Sarah Soape; brother, L.T. "Chick" Cheshire and wife Judy; nephew, Micah Cheshire and wife Katie; great-nephews, Jarrett and Joel Cheshire; and great-niece, Addison Cheshire. Numerous other family and many friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kirby Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
