Obituary

Marion Edward "Mutt" Hudson was born on Oct. 29, 1938, in Longview, TX to the late Olen and Elsie Faye Williams Hudson. He grew up in Longview and later moved to Gary, TX where he graduated from Gary High School with the class of 1958. After graduation, he moved to Houston to live with his uncle and began work for Shuron Optical making eye glass lenses. While at Shuron in Houston, he met and started dating his future wife, Josie Marie "Mickey" . They both put in to be moved to Shuron's South Carolina facility, Mutt moving in August of 1961, and Mickey in September of 1961, without either of them knowing. Mutt looked up one day in the factory and saw Mickey. They dated from that day on and were married on Nov 25, 1961, Thanksgiving Day, in Barnwell, SC. In 1964, they moved back to Texas where Mutt began working at the Texas Eastman plant in Longview, where he learned his trade of instrument fitting. Then he traveled the world: from Texas, to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Louisiana, New Mexico, bought a home in Humble, then went overseas working for Jay Ray McDermott at their Belgium headquarters and in their offshore facility in Norway and Scotland. While overseas, he had the opportunity to visit Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Africa, and France. In 1978, he came back to his home in Humble where he worked all over the U.S. as an instrument fitter. In 2003, at the age of 65, he retired from Solvey Polymers. After he moved back to Carthage, Mutt attended Abundant Life Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; children, Joseph Marion, Shirley Jean, and Janie Marie Hudson; siblings, Agnes Lucille Beard, Robert Earl, Thomas Neal, Olen Daniel, and Billy Ray Hudson; and son-in-law, Kevin Elkins.

He is survived by his wife, Mickey Hudson; children, Michael Hudson and wife Gaylynn, Carolyn Elkins, Johnny Matsoukas and wife Amber, and Cindy Bearden and husband Kenneth; brothers, Jack, John, and Noble Hudson; grandchildren, Joshua Hudson, Jay Spikes, Christopher Hudson, Josh Wilkinson, Nicholas Hudson, Noble Stone, Austin Elkins, Tyler Elkins, Jonathan Matsoukas, Alyssia Matsoukas, Michael Petticrew, Ashley Petticrew, Nicholas Petticrew, and Justin Matsoukas; and great-great-grandchildren, Emmett Hudson, Colton Spikes, Waylon Spikes, and Vincent Vazquez.
