A funeral service for Mrs. Murl Bromley Garland, age 86, of Houston, TX, formerly of Tatum, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Freddy Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Garland passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012, in Houston.

Geneva Murl Bromley Garland was born on May 31, 1926, in Tatum, TX to Horace and Effie Lee Linton Bromley. She graduated from Tatum High School with the class of 1943. Mrs. Garland married Rudolph Urbon Garland on July 4, 1946, in Carthage, TX and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter, Rebecca Jo Garland who passed away in 1958; one brother, Elvis Bromley; and one sister, Nellie Hicks.

Mrs. Garland is survived by three sons, Jackie Lynn Garland of Edwardsville, IL, Larry W. Garland and wife Robin of Houston, and Rudolph Craig Garland and wife Beverly of Ennis; one sister, Gladys Garland of Angleton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Chavez and husband Jade of Austin, Larry Wayne Garland of St. Louis, and Cassandra Garland of Ennis; and four great-grandchildren, David Michael Craig Garland, Ashton Ryan Garland, Jaden Brandt Chavez, and Noah Eric Chavez.

Serving as pallbearers are Gary Garland, Larry Wayne Garland Jr., Walter Dale Garland, John Stolarsky, Travis Lovil, and Truman Shirey.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jade Chavez and Johnny Blessing.
