Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Mozelle Hall Kunkel, age 76, of Lake Murvaul in Panola County, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kunkel passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 23, 2011, in Carthage.
Mozelle Hall Kunkel was born on Oct. 19, 1934, in Emory, TX to James Rozelle and Golda Vio Anderson Hall. She graduated from Gary High School with the class of 1953. Mrs. Kunkel attended S.F.A. State University where she earned a Bachelor of Education with a Smith-Hughes Certificate in 1956. She married John Charles "Pete" Kunkel on Aug. 22, 1954, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. Mrs. Kunkel was a great cook and an excellent seamstress. During her teaching career, she loved to teach writing, where she demanded nothing short of perfection. She moved to Lake Murvaul in 1986, from Longview. Mrs. Kunkel was a member of the First U.M.C. in Carthage. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Kunkel is survived by her husband of 56 years, John C. "Pete" Kunkel of Lake Murvaul; two daughters, Kathy Kunkel of San Francisco and Debbie L. Rodgers of Hallsville; one sister, Elna Mae Gosnell and husband Dale of Dallas; two brothers, James R. "Jack" Hall and wife Mollie of Baton Rouge and Andre Hall of Lake Murvaul; and three grandchildren, Justin Wray Rodgers, Megan Nicole Rodgers, and Jake Aaron Rodgers all of Hallsville. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Kunkel.
Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Yancey, Lynn Cooper, J.B. Rodgers, Neil Grant, Scott Williams, and Jim Hagood.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bobby Goff and Waymon Bullock.
