Mozel Hock, 82, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 25, 2023, at her home in Carthage with her family by her side. Mozel Scott was born on Dec. 6, 1940, in Shreveport, LA to the late Homer B. and Luddie Mae Beshea Scott. She married Benjamin Michael Hock on June 28, 1975, in West Columbia, TX. Mozel and Benny have lived in Carthage for 20 years, originally from Sweeny, TX where they raised their children. She worked for the Sweeny School District for several years and later worked at Milts as the manager. Mozel liked working in town at Milts because she could keep an eye on the kids, especially Roy and his shenanigans. She enjoyed many years going to the mud races watching her boys race and going shopping with her girls. Every summer they would take the kids camping and when the kids outgrew camping, they started vacationing to different places. Mozel lived for her family and especially loved watching her grandchildren as they grew up. She loved the daily phone calls and the many visits that her kids surprised her with.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Troy Duane Blackstock; a daughter, Kathy Darlene LaBeth; a son, Donald Gene Hock; a grandson, Charles Ray Blackstock, Jr.; and a brother, James Scott.

She is survived by her husband Benny Hock, Jr. of Carthage, TX; children, C.W. Blackstock, Charlie and Vickie Blackstock, Roy and Laura Blackstock, Donna and Randal Aldrich all of Sweeny, TX and Tammy and Pat Henigan of Big Spring, TX; brother, Homer J. Scott, Jr. of Broaddus, TX; sisters, Louise Glover of Carthage, TX and Rosa and Larry Phelps of Smithville, TX; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Henigan officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Charles Blackstock, Roy Blackstock, C.W. Blackstock, Randal Aldrich, Pat Henigan, and Sean Holcomb.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons.
