Mott Sims, 94, of DeBerry, Texas, passed away on Monday night, February 12, 2024, in Marshall, Texas. Florence Lomer Barnett Sims, known to all as "Mott", was born on October 1, 1929, in Panola County, Texas to the late Willard Pierce and Alice Mayfield Barnett. She graduated from Carthage High School. Mott worked as a legal secretary and later as a real estate broker until her retirement. She lived her lifetime in DeBerry and was a member of the DeBerry Baptist Church. Mott was also preceded in death by her brother, Willard Pierce Barnett, Jr.; sister, Oma Elizabeth Barnett Barlow; and granddaughter, Aynsley Sims Nelson.

She is survived by her son, Jackie Lee Sims, Jr. and his girlfriend, JoAnn Prince Hughes; grandson, Chad Lee Sims and wife Jana; great-grandchildren, Grant and Cara Sims and Alyssa Nelson; and a grandson-in-law, Donnie Nelson and wife Joanne.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at DeBerry Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Wilburn officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in DeBerry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Rusty Holladay, Mike Shadowens, Randy Beasley, Randy Arrendell, Charlie Lennon, and Jerod Gann.  Honorary pallbearer is Jamie Holladay
