Obituary

A memorial service for Mr. Morris S. "Tex" Marshall, age 86 of Chester, Virginia formerly of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School Street, Chester, Virginia 23831. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will take place in California. Mr. Marshall passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2007 in Chester.

Mr. Marshall was born on December 4, 1920 the sixth son of George and Laura Marshall of Carthage, Texas. Following graduation from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas he moved to California and began a 36-year career with Pan American Airways. His work took him from the Treasure Island base at San Francisco to Shanghai, Wake Island, Tokyo and back to California. Mr. Marshall was a Mason in good standing for 50 years, most recently of Chester Lodge #94. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Nicholls Marshall; daughter, Carolyn Marshall; son, Greg Marshall; son-in-law, Joseph Scott Caldwell III; his fifth step grandchild, Kurt Davies; and five brothers, Emory Marshall, Earl Marshall, Charles Marshall, Gerald Marshall, and James Marshall.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davies Marshall; twin daughters, Janice O'Brien and Joyce Caldwell, both of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Joyce Marshall; and grandson, Gregory Scott Marshall, both of Santa Rosa, California. Other survivors include three stepsons, David Davies, Jim Davies and wife Nancy, and Steve Davies and wife Amie; four step grandchildren, Tommy, Sarah, Zach, and Zoe Davies; and many nieces and nephews.
