IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Morgan Ray
Rabon, Sr.
September 29, 1952 – December 11, 2024
Morgan Ray Rabon Sr., 72, of Dotson, Texas, passed away peacefully in the hospital on December 11, 2024, surrounded by his devoted wife of 50 years, Debra, and the rest of his loving family.
Born on September 29, 1952, in Conroe, Texas, Morgan grew up in Montgomery, where he graduated from Montgomery High School in 1971. As a boy, he loved swimming in the Blue Hole and spending time with his three brothers, two sisters, and best friends, creating memories that shaped his adventurous and hardworking spirit.
Morgan began his lifelong career in the utility and construction industry at a young age. He worked tirelessly in Houston during the week, sacrificing time with his family to ensure they were provided for, while eagerly returning home to the farm every weekend. His dream became reality when he retired in 2018 and moved back to the farm to live out his days with his best friend and love, Debra.
Even in retirement, Morgan never truly stopped working. He poured his energy into taking care of the farm and living the life he cherished. When he wasn't hunting, fishing, or tending to the cows, Morgan loved exploring every corner of his property. He had the "new land," the "new new land," and the "old new land," and he and Debra would ride those pastures for hours. Their kids always waited by the phone, knowing it was only a matter of time before Morgan called for help—because no matter what he was driving, he could, and would get it stuck. Whether it was a truck, tractor, 4-wheeler, bulldozer, or his Kubota side x side, Morgan had a gift for finding trouble. But he always knew one of his kids would bail him out, especially if their momma was with him. That was the type of love this family was known for. They always had each other's back, because Morgan wouldn't have had it any other way.
Morgan's personality was larger than life, and so were his life lessons. From his memorable advice like "You gotta hit it with the rods knocking" to his enthusiastic encouragement of "You gotta aim over there and just shoot it—Shoot it! SHOOT it now!" his words will echo in the hearts of everyone he taught. When Morgan was disappointed, he would usually yell first and then end with something like, "You boys just can't go out and eat a steak!"
Morgan loved nothing more than filling his home with as many people as it could hold. Whether it was a party, a get-together, or one of his famous crawfish boils, he relished the joy of being surrounded by family, friends, and sometimes even strangers—because Morgan never met a stranger.
Known for his humor, his dedication, and his open heart, Morgan will be remembered for the laughter, lessons, and love he shared with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Odell Rabon (Pawpaw and Memaw); his brother, Duncan Rabon; and his son-in-law, Frank Miller.
Morgan is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debra Rabon; his children, Mari Miller, Nelly Tinkle (husband Randy), Morgan Rabon Jr. (wife Angela), Chrissy Twomey (husband Jonathan), Mathew Rabon (wife Paula), and Tony Rabon (wife Brianna); his sisters, Patsy Neskorik and Linda McReynolds; his brothers, Lester Rabon and Boner Rabon; 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
