Funeral services for Mr. Mondee Beck, age 86 years, of Carthage, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Larry W. Thorn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Gary, Texas under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A wake service will be held on Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Beck passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his residence in Carthage.
Mr. Mondee Beck was born on June 1, 1919 in Panola County to Edgar and Kemp Solomon Beck. He married Juanita James Beck on June 21, 1938. Mr. Beck worked for Darnell Lumber Company for 30 years and Griffith Construction for 10 years. He loved fishing and gardening. Mr. Beck had a lot of knowledge and he loved to share it with people. He loved his family dearly and was the greatest father in the world. Mr. Beck had lived in Panola County all of his life and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on February 10, 1993, his brother, Alvin Beck, Jr., two sisters, Margie Beck Charles and Opal Jean Beck; and two sons-in-law, Charles Blackshire, and Albert Hearld.
Mr. Beck is survived by three sons, Mondell Beck, Jr. and wife Debra of Carthage, Eddie Beck of Carthage, and Carl Beck and wife Kathy of Henderson; four daughters, Shirley Wilson and husband Kenneth of Beckville, Diana Beck of Carthage, Carolyn Davis and husband Timothy of Carthage, and Ruby Blackshire of Carthage; two brothers, Carroll Beck and wife Velta of Carthage and Barnard Ray Beck of Carthage; one sister Dollie Faye Rayson of Carthage; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends also survive Mr. Beck.
Serving as pallbearers are Calvin Blackshire, Derrick Blackshire, Carlos Blackshire, Gary Blackshire, Kendrick Wilson, Mondell Beck III, Chris Kelly, LaDaroe Beck, Maurice Blackshire, and Sirdarris Blackshire. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Mondell Beck, Jr., Eddie Beck, Carl Beck, Timothy Davis, Kenneth Wilson, Karl McClendon, Keith Brown, and Willie Clough.
