Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Baldwin Woods, 93, of Tenaha, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Tenaha with Brother Jay Orr, Brother Russ Atwood, and Brother James R. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Tenaha under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mrs. Woods passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007 in Carthage.
Anna Mildred Baldwin Woods was born on March 1, 1914 in Panola County, Texas to James Samuel (Sam) Baldwin, Jr. and Valta Lee Goolsby Baldwin. She had lived most of her life in Tenaha and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tenaha where she also taught the young adults Sunday School Class. She married J. Lloyd Woods on February 27, 1942 in Tenaha. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business interest for 65 years. She was a graduate of Tenaha High School and attended East Texas Baptist College of Marshall. She was active in the music ministry at Panola Health Care and Rehabilitation for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son in 1942, and an infant daughter in 1945; two brothers, Edmond Baldwin in 1974, James Baldwin in 1989; a sister Grace Baldwin in 1989; and a niece, Nancy Kay Baldwin Dorman in 1997.
Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband of 65 years, J. Lloyd Woods of Tenaha, a special great-great nephew, Michael B. Vana of Carthage; brother-in-law, John Tom Woods and wife Mary of Pasadena; five sisters-in law, Bess Jones of Tyler, Nell Woods Hancock of Longview, Patsy Ruth Byerley and husband Paul of Beaumont, Rita Woods of Carthage, and Dorothy Woods of Belton; and special friends, John and Erma Scull of Tenaha. Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive Mrs. Woods.
Serving as pallbearers are Drue Scull, Terry Scull, Greg Starr, Jim Edwards, David Edwards and Bill Edwards. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Tenaha, Trustees and Administration of East Texas Baptist University, W. A. Parker, and Tom Crawford.
