Mildred McCrary, 95, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 23, 2018, in Carthage. Mildred Brack "Millie" Orr McCrary was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in Waskom, TX to the late Henry Stanley and Thelma Carswell Orr. Mrs. McCrary graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1939, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Texas Women's University and a master's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Lawrence Lester McCrary on March 1, 1946, in Corsicana, TX and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1996, after 50 years of marriage. Mrs. McCrary worked as a teacher for 32 years at Carthage ISD until her retirement. She was a longtime and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. Mrs. McCrary was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Crawford and her brother, Stanley Arthur Orr.

Survivors include her son, Rod McCrary and wife Linda of Houston; sister, Dorothy Culbertson of Greenwood, LA; grandchildren, Brent McCrary and wife Melina of San Antonio and Jennifer Coronado and husband Dan of League City; and great-grandchildren, Lauren McCrary and Mark and Luke Coronado.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Leah Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Brent McCrary, Dan Coronado, Mike Culbertson, Dwain Orr, Wes Orr, and Chad Orr.
