Mike Dartez, 66, of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at his home near Carthage. Michael Lynn Dartez was born on Sept. 23, 1949, in Crowley, LA to Roy Francis and Callie Rose Richard Dartez. He graduated from high school in Louisiana in 1967 and attended McNeese State University. Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and was sent to the Pentagon, where he was the editor of the Leatherneck magazine. He met the mother of his children, Carol, on a blind date and they were married in 1976, in Houston. In 1977, they moved to Panola County were Mike worked briefly as a plumber and then at Texas Utilities as a Welder, serving as President of the Local IBEW worker's union until his retirment. He enjoyed horses and mules and went on many trail rides with family and friends through national parks and numerous other beautiful places. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Callie Dartez of Kaplan, LA; children, Kyle Dartez of Houston, Kelly Dartez (Ashley) of Wichita Falls, and Kerri Beth Dartez of Carthage; the mother of his children, Carol Dartez of Carthage; and brothers, Delwyn and Don Dartez.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
