Mr. Michael Robert Tant, age 52, of Beckville, Texas, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 16, 2010, in Carthage. Mr. Tant will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Michael Robert Tant was born on November 29, 1957, in Tyler, Texas, to James Charles "J.C." Tant, Sr. and Georgia Beard Tant. Michael graduated from Gladewater High School with the class of 1976. He married Jennifer Susan Leader and she preceded him in death in January of 2006. Michael worked in the oil field as a floor hand and a roughneck for many years. He moved to Beckville in 1996, from Tyler. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Tant; and one sister, Sue Tant Ivy.

Mr. Tant is survived by one step-son, Mark Brocksmith of Salt Lake City; one step-daughter, Heather Onuma of Los Angeles; five brothers, J.C. Tant, Jr. and wife Deborah of Flint, Gary Tant and wife Shirley of Chapel Hill; Larry Tant of Beckville, Billy Tant and wife Polly of Beckville, and Terry Tant of Chapel Hill; and two sisters, Virginia Robertson of Chapel Hill and Linda Armour and husband Robert of Alba. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Michael.
