Melissa Michele Bowlin Broome , 48, of Tatum, TX passed away on Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, 2017, at her home near Tatum surrounded by family and friends. She was born on June 20, 1969, in Houston to James Dwight and Florence Mae Laskowski Bowlin. She attended Leverett's Chapel Schools and graduated from Overton High School and was the class of 1987's valedictorian. She moved to Tatum in 2015, from Overton. Melissa enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Broome, Jr. of Tatum; parents, James and Florence Bowlin of Johnstown, CO; children, Christopher Dewayne Hayes and wife Brandy of Kilgore, Jessica Michele Broome Gasser and husband Austin of Lemoore, CA, and Brittany Amanda Broome of Tatum; grandmother, Agatha Rose Laskowski of Kilgore; siblings, Thomas Doubrava and wife Erna of Buchloe, Germany, Whitney Bowlin of Green River, WY, and Jill DeYoung and husband Scott of Johnstown; grandchildren, Lacie Rae Hayes and Kevin Dewayne Hayes; one grandchild on the way, Oliver Michael Gasser; and father-in-law, Mike Broome, Sr. of Tatum.

A celebration of Melissa's life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 P.M. at the Broome home at 8593 F.M. 2658, Tatum, Texas 75691. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
