Obituary

Melinda Lee Powell Tuttle, wife of Dr. Charles L. Tuttle of Mesquite, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014.

A private graveside service for Mrs. Tuttle was held at Deadwood Cemetery.

Melinda was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Fort Worth to Margie and Edwin Powell. She grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Southwest High School. For over 36 years Melinda was a gifted teacher of chemistry and physics at high schools in Mesquite, Dallas and Opelika, Ala. Her last 19 years were spent at Mesquite High School. Melinda graduated with a bachelor's of science from Texas A&M and a master's of science from Auburn University. She was a very family-oriented person and an avid reader.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Edwin D. Powell; and her father-in-law, Charles E. Tuttle.

Survivors: In addition to her husband, Melinda is survived by her daughters, Nicole Tuttle and Melissa Tuttle; mother, Margie Powell Alexander; her brother, Dr. Dan Powell and wife, Debbie; her mother-in-law, Kathlyn Tuttle; sister-in-law, Kathy Nicks and husband, Bill; nieces and nephews, Jason and Kersti, Alex and Anne, Adrienne, Kyle and Aubrey; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
