Graveside services for Mrs. Melba Elene Barnett, age 79, of the Logan Community, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Smith Cemetery with Pastor Carla Reed officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family and friends will gather at 12:30 p.m. at 424 Pecan St., Center, TX 75935, and proceed to the cemetery. Mrs. Barnett passed away on Saturday night, Dec. 17, 2011, in Nacogdoches.

Melba Elene Hallmark Barnett was born on Sept. 10, 1932, in Tishomingo, OK to James Edward and Susan Safrona Cooksey Hallmark. She was a homemaker and had lived in the Center area for 5 years, coming from the Logan Community. Mrs. Barnett was preceeded in death by her parents, her husbands, Ramon Fry and Denson Barnett, one daughter Jan Lee, and three brothers Herman Hallmark, Arlin Hallmark, and Elbert Ray Hallmark, and one sister, Pauline Wilson.

Mrs. Barnett is survived by ten daughters, Sue Hargrove of Nacogdoches, TX, Sharon Kabrich of Porter, TX, Janene Walker of Shelbyville, TX, Valerie Pina of Kingwood, TX, Lana Millwood of Longview, TX, Judy Cook of El Salvador, Pat Coots of Little Rock, AR, Peaches Hearn of Diane, TX, June Edwards of Longview, TX, and Denise Lang of Chandler, TX; three brothers, Jack Hallmark of Oklahoma City, OK, Joe Hallmark of Austin, TX, and Jim Hallmark of Stonewall, OK; one sister, Linda Ainsworth of Ada, OK; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive Mrs. Barnett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fannie Brown Booth Library at 619 Tenaha St., Center, TX.
