Mattie was born on February 3, 1922 in Nashville, Arkansas, the daughter of Spurgeon and Winnie Copeland. Mattie is preceded by her parents, her husband Jimmy and sister Lela. She is survived by her sister Jean Sanders; son Danny Moore and wife Courtney of Destrehan, LA, son Mickey Moore and wife Jan of Huntsville, daughter Susie Stone and husband Stan of Huntsville, son Tim Moore and wife Kathy of Conroe, son Pat Moore and wife Becky of Conroe, grandchildren Jenny Bouler, Lindsey Hinkle, Nathan Moore, Nick Moore, Neil Moore, Sharlie Huber, Sean Stone, Bailey Moore, Chaney Moore, Cullen Moore, Jake Moore, Jessica Moore. She is also survived by 11 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

Mattie grew up in Arkansas where she graduated from Henderson College. She enjoyed the years she taught high school English and coached girls basketball at Buckner High School in Buckner, Ar. After living in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Mississippi; the Moore's settled in Houston. She worked many years at Ceco Construction. She later was church hostess at First Baptist Spring Branch where she prepared many meals for her church family.

She moved to Huntsville in 2012 where she enjoyed being with family and friends. She always was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family sharing good times.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Carthage, Texas.
