Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Kathryn Pruit, age 83 of Carthage, Texas formerly of Hobbs, New Mexico will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2007 at Oddfellows Cemetery with Dr. William Everett officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mrs. Pruit passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007 in Carthage.

Mary Kathryn Martin Jones Pruit was born on December 2, 1923 in Deport, Texas to James and Ruby Gooch Martin. Mrs. Pruit attended Childress High School in Childress, Texas. She married Geter Pruit and he preceded her in death. She worked for many years at Smith and Tucker Dentists in Hobbs, New Mexico as an office manager. In her younger years, Mrs. Pruit enjoyed golfing. She had lived in Carthage since 2006, moving from Hobbs, New Mexico where she was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pruit was also preceded in death by a special friend, Glenn Foltz of Hobbs, New Mexico.

Mrs. Pruit is survived by one son, Mike Jones and wife Mary Louise of Crystal River, Florida; one sister, Cynthia Ann Boland and husband John of Carthage; two grandchildren, Shaun Jones and wife Ronda and Chris Jones and wife Danyal both of Amarillo, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Kayla Jones, and Xaviar Jones all of Amarillo, Texas; one niece, Melissa O'Neal and husband Justin of Coppell, Texas; and one nephew, Brewer Boland of Carthage, Texas.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses of the Marion Place in Carthage for the excellent care provided for Mrs. Pruit during the final stages of her life.
