Services for Mrs. Mary Beason, age 63, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bruce Head officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Beason passed away on Sunday morning, Aug. 19, 2012, in Shreveport, LA.
Mary Elizabeth Mertens Tutt Beason was born on Jan. 10, 1949, at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois to Richard John and Wilma Marie Hammel Mertens. She was an accountant, owning The Sharp Pencil in DeBerry where she worked for many years. Mary loved collecting and sewing. She was a volunteer fireman for the Inter Community V.F.D., where she was one of the founding members of the department. Mary moved to DeBerry in 1977, where she married Donnie Carl Beason on Apr. 19, 1978. She was of the Baptist faith. Mary was preceded in death by her father and one son, Richard Claude Tutt.
Mary is survived by her mother, Wilma Hammel of Shreveport; her husband, Donnie Beason of DeBerry; one son, Stephen Tutt and wife Jamie of Carthage; one daughter, Annetta Phillips and Scott Cagle of Nacogdoches; one brother, Otis Mertens and wife Kim of Leesville, LA; two sisters, Martha Bates and husband Mark of Shreveport and Barbara Durr and husband Lonnie of Many, LA; and three grandchildren, Dakota, Mallory, and Easton Tutt.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Mossman, Scott Cagle, Richard Anderson, Ron Walker, Mike Worm, Sam Johnson, and the members of the Inter Community V.F.D.
