Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ethel Cox, age 85, of the Woods Community of Panola County, TX, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Woods United Methodist Church with Bro. Pete Williams officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at the church prior to the service. Mrs. Cox passed away on Tuesday morning, Apr. 27, 2010, in Tyler.

Mary Ethel Marsh Cox was born on June 7, 1924, in the Woods Community to James Felton and Nannie Mae Knight Marsh. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1941 and attended cosmetology school in Shreveport. Mrs. Cox worked as a cosmetologist most of her life. She married Robert Allen Cox on Jan. 1, 1943 in Logansport and he preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1981. She moved back to Panola County in 1973, from Shreveport. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Woods United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Roberta Llen Brodfuehrer.

Mrs. Cox is survived by one son, Robert A. Cox, Jr. and wife Brenda J. of Shreveport; one sister, Agnes Downer of Carthage; three grandchildren, Terri Armitage of Kilgore, Robert A. Cox III of Haughton, and Christian J. Cox and wife Paige of Shreveport; and three great-grandchildren, Brandi Hrasdzira, Zack Armitage, and Haley Cox.

Serving as pallbearers are Zack Armitage, Christian Cox, Rob Cox, James Knight, Kyle Knight, and Tom Knight.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dick Brodfuehrer, Freddie Jimenez, Joe Dan Knight, Joe Knight, Keith Knight, Sammy Knight, Willis Knight, Felix Salas, and Brit Thompson.
