Obituary

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday July 15, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel She will lay in state on Monday July 14, 2014 from 1-5 p.m. for friends and family at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Mary Ester Glasper was born as the first child of George and Bernice Glasper, Sr. on September 13, 1936. She would later be followed by 4 brothers and 1 sister. She grew up and was educated in Panola County before moving to Fort Worth. She returned to Carthage in the 1980s to care for her Mother. She is preceded in death by her Grandmother, Elmira McLemore; both parents, and one brother, George Glasper, Jr. As a school girl, she met the love of her life, Willie Rollins. From this romance, a vision of loveliness was created in the form of a daughter.

Mary worked with Pat G. Yarborough in her home for many years before becoming ill. Always a free spirit, she enjoyed visiting with friends, shopping, going to church, and listening to music. She also used her free time to mentor a beautiful little girl that has become a wonderful young woman, Chasity Taylor.

A well liked and long-time resident of Carthage, she leaves many who will relish in her memory while also celebrating her life including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her remaining family includes the following: 3 brothers – Johnny R. (Mary), Robert L. (Linda), and Richard L. (LaWanda); 1 loyal sister Linda F. (Bobby R.). She leaves one Great Great Granddaughter, Amoria Elaine; 3 Great Grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth, Sezzie Earlantice, and Christion Charles, all of Terry, MS. 2 Grandchildren, Christopher Earl (Jackson, MS) and Elmira NaTishsa (Richmond, VA), affectionately named her Lil' Mama. They will miss her laughter, love, beauty, and of course, her potato salad.

Lastly, but by NO means least is her adoring daughter, only child, and best friend, Velma (Jesse). In the latter years of Mary's life, you could not see one without the other. Velma thought it an honor to provide care, comfort, and concern through her illness and recovery. Mary successfully battled Heart Disease and Cancer, and was maintaining her health before being called to Glory. She loved her family and spent her last days enjoying time at the Annual Henderson/McLemore Reunion. Mary/Mama/Ma'rester/C Ester/Es/Lil' Mama departed this world on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, to join her Heavenly Father and her earthly family that has gone on before her.
