Obituary

Mary Lou Dailey, 92, of Beckville, Texas, passed away on Monday evening, April 22, 2024, in Carthage, Texas. Mary Lou Thompson was born on January 8, 1932, in the Pleasant Ridge Community near Carthage to the late Charlie N. and Gertrude Ford Thompson. She graduated from Carthage High School. Mary Lou married Billy Charles Dailey, Sr. on January 24, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1986. Mrs. Dailey loved being outdoors and working in her yard. She enjoyed cooking and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Dailey loved her family and was a devoted mother to all her children, making sure to take special care of her sweet Sandra. She lived her lifetime in Panola County and was a longtime member of the New Prospect Church. Mrs. Dailey was also preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Evans; daughter, Sandra Jean Dailey; son-in-law, Phelix Martin; daughter-in-law, Briley Dailey; and siblings, Birdie Schultz, Charlcie Jackson, Robert Thompson, Walter Thompson, and Alan Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Lou Harris (Gay) and Dianne D. Martin Resta (Frank); son, Billy Dailey, Jr.; grandchildren, JoAnn, Jeanette, Amanda, Jennifer, Will, Morgan, and Charlie; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bramblett (Louis, Jr.); and her beloved dog, Zippy. Mrs. Dailey also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at New Prospect Church with Bro. Bob Scott officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Will Harris, Charlie Dailey, Tanner Elliott, Tristan Harris, John Langford, and Adam Buchanan.
