Funeral services for Mary Frances Mills Avery, age 87, of Tulsa, OK, formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mary passed away on Monday morning, June 25, 2012, in Tulsa.

Mary Frances Mills Avery was born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Carthage, TX to Rodger Q. and Leona L. Johnson Mills. Mary was united in marriage to Vaughn B. Avery on June 1, 1941. They traveled throughout the United States and the world following pipeline construction, having lived in Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, England and Holland. They moved to Carthage in 1974 from Highlands, TX. Mary was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Tulsa in 2009, to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Alvin "Speedy" Mills; and two sisters, Josephine Watts and Dorothy Dailey.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlene Sadler and husband Ron of Cushing, OK and two grandchildren, Brent Lee Sadler and wife Ingrid and their sons Brandon Lee and Evan Carlsten of Tulsa, OK and Brian Avery Sadler and son Avery Owen of Jacksonville, FL. Numerous loving nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Avery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Avery, Roy Avery, Glenn Avery, Richard McFarland, Michael Clark and Jonathan Mills.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Watts and Johnny Mills.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 3218 F.M. 699, Carthage, TX 75633.
