Martha Williams, 65, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 11, 2023, at her home in Carthage. Martha Lynn Hunt was born on January 18, 1958, in Carthage to the late J. B. and Jo Maurice Beard Hunt. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1976, and attended Panola College. Martha earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Baylor University where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She later attended the University of Texas at Tyler to earn her teaching certificate and was 3 hours shy of earning her Master's Degree in Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Bobby Terrance "Terry" Williams on July 18, 1981, in Carthage. Martha was a hard worker and grew up working at her parent's restaurant, the Dairy Mart. She later worked at United Gas and First National Bank before working in the family business at Joe's Café. She finished her working career at Carthage I.S.D. until her health no longer allowed. She lived her lifetime in Carthage and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Williams; daughter, Caroline Carter and husband Joshua; son, Clayton Williams and wife Kristen; sisters, Cynthia Grimes and husband Phil and Joann Thomas and husband James; and grandchildren, Carson, Claire, and Corie Jane Carter and Kate Williams.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Freddy Mason and John Pages officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the funeral service.
