Martha Bee Westmoreland, age 82, of Carthage, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday night, January 1, 2026, in Carthage. She was born on July 21, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late J. B. and Annie Bell Bolke Douglas.

Martha was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Westmoreland, and together they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on November 12, 2022. She devoted many years of her life to serving others as a caregiver and private sitter, a role that reflected her compassionate heart and giving spirit, until her retirement.

A lifelong resident of Panola County, Martha was a faithful member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Long Branch, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship with her church family.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Martha was preceded in death by her son, Antwine Douglas; her great-grandson, Ja'Mari McLemore; her son-in-law, Charles Ray McLemore; and her siblings, S. T. Milton, Annie Lee Washington, Willie Jacobs, Carter Gilliam, Maggie Gilliam, Josie Mae Adger, and Edward Baker.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Charles Ray Douglas, Sophia McLemore, Erica Ballard (John), and Charles Westmoreland, Jr.; her grandchildren, Tonjerrika Harris (Devin), Ebony Ballard, Ja'Darrik McLemore, La'Rose Gossett (Justin), Ja'Dayshia McLemore, Charles Westmoreland III, Cree McLemore, Ray'Vonne Westmoreland, and Meesha Westmoreland; her great-grandchildren, Hayvyn Harris, Da'Myia McLemore, Jayce McLemore, Haze Harris, Houston Harris, and Rowan McLemore; and a special family member, June Thomas. Numerous other relatives and dear friends also survive Mrs. Westmoreland.

A memorial service officiated by Bishop Hubert Owens will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel.
