Martha Poindexter, age 81, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 25, 2025, at her home.

Martha Mae Adare was born on January 26, 1944, in New Braunfels, Texas, to the late Albert Douglas and Alma Ella Bane Adare. She graduated from Smithville High School. On July 10, 1969, Martha married Henry Hilton Poindexter in El Paso, Texas, and together they shared 48 years of marriage until his passing on November 7, 2017. In 1974, they made Carthage their home after moving from Pineland, Texas.

Martha devoted her life to her family, first as a homemaker and later as the manager of Nu-Way in Carthage. She was known as an exceptional cook, a devoted supporter of Carthage Bulldog football, and a faithful member of Carthage Missionary Baptist Church. Martha's warmth, dedication, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nola Roberts, and a grandson, Kris Boyd.

She is survived by her children: Hilton Poindexter; Douglas M. Poindexter and wife Stacy; Melissa Poindexter; and Trish Lankford and husband Joel.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Kinsley Burrow and spouse Carson; Hunter Poindexter and wife Amanda; Hannah Poindexter; Alley Yaste and husband Trevor; Cameron Anderson and wife Haley; Clayton Anderson and girlfriend Heidi; Chase Poindexter; Collin Poindexter and wife Samantha; and Kurt Lankford and wife Nicole.
Her great-grandchildren include Kace Henry Yaste, Kambrie Mae Yaste, Kyzer William Yaste, Ava Anderson, Liam Poindexter, Hunter Lankford, Jimmy Boyd, and Jordan Lankford. Numerous other relatives and cherished friends also survive Mrs. Poindexter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Cameron Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery in the Snap Community under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Anderson, Collin Poindexter, Trevor Yaste, Mike Poindexter, Koen Norman, and Cameron Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Roberts, Buddy Roberts, Gary Roberts, Joey Little, and Kevin Jones.
