Marlin Ross, 78, of Palestine, TX formerly of Beckville, TX, passed away on Saturday evening, June 1, 2019, in Palestine. Marlin Elvis Ross was born on March 30, 1941, in Beckville to the late Elvis Marlin and Elvesta Faulkner Ross. Mr. Ross graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1960. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Mr. Ross married Dorothy Fay Powell on April 7, 1978, in Palestine. He worked as an electrician for Jacson Electric and Crook Electric in Longview for many years until his retirement. Mr. Ross also grew chickens for Tyson for over 30 years. He lived most of his lifetime in Beckville and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Billy Ross; and a sister, Patsy Ross.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ross of Palestine; son, Marlin Dwain Ross of Fair Play; step-daughters, Sandra Gonzales and husband Tim of Lubbock and Tammy Mitchell and husband Darrell of Palestine; sisters, Bobbie Ann Cecil of Riderville, Mary Louise Bryant of Old Center, Ola Rene Jester and husband Richard of Tyler, and Kathy Sue Shivers and husband Paul of Carthage; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ross of Beckville; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Standley and Dennis Smith officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Kevin Jester, Bubba Ross, Cody Mitchell, and Clay Mitchell.
