Mark Edward Hicks, 58, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Thursday morning, May 25, 2023, at his home near Carthage. He was born on November 16, 1964, in Carthage to the late A.J. and Jo Ann Johnson Hicks. Mark attended Logansport and Carthage schools. He worked as an operator and truck driver in the oil field and was a jack of all trades. Mark loved surf fishing, wood working and building things. He had lived his lifetime in Panola County and was of the Baptist faith. Mark was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lee Hicks, Tommy Hicks, and Allen Joe Hicks.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Riley; children, Mark James Hicks and wife Cristal, Matthew Gerald Hicks, Jake Riley (Candice), Jacee Riley (Lucas Labellarte), Jessi Riley (Raymond Owen), and Jared Riley; and grandchildren, Mason, Hayden, Westin, Mark, and Aden Hicks, Jase, Emma, Jamisen, and Jensen Riley, and Axl and Tripp Owen.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chester Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Old Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Curtis Ebarb, Robert Ward, Jim Neill, Raymond Owen, Jared Riley, and Justin Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are Marc Tryon, Aaron Hicks, A.J. Hicks, and the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 353.
