Marilyn Sue Ross

Marilyn Sue Ross, age 77, of Beckville, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 3, 2026, in Carthage, Texas. Born on July 23, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Bobby and Carolyn Smith. Marilyn dedicated most of her life to her community in Panola County.

She was a proud graduate of the Carthage High School Class of 1967, later earning her CNA certification from Panola College. Marilyn devoted many years to caring for others, working at Panola Nursing Home and as a private caregiver. On February 5, 1971, she married Billy Joe Ross, who preceded her in death on December 11, 2018.

Marilyn was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Beckville. Her love for her church was evident through her participation in Sunday School and her joyful singing as a member of the praise and worship team.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Michael Ross. She leaves behind her beloved son, Elvis "Bubba" Ross and daughter-in-law Rachael; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Micah, Noah, Clayton, Waylon, and Lilly Ross; as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Freya and Taylen, with one more on the way.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Bro. Michael Powell officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Langley Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them for a visitation on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers honoring Marilyn will be Clayton Ross, Waylon Ross, Garry Lilly, Rowdy Richmond, J.R. Redding, and Kevin Jester.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Briarcliff Skilled Nursing Facility for the tender care shown to Mrs. Ross.
