Maria Vanover, age 88, of Carthage, Texas passed away on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on July 2, 1935, in Grieskirchen Austria to the late August and Maria Haidinger Sallaberger. She married Wilburn Vanover on November 27, 1952, in Toronto, Canada and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2007, after 55 years together. They moved to Carthage in 1980, from Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Paula Sallaberger and Frieda Brenner; daughter-in-law, Vikki Vanover; and daughter, Trudy Lynn Walling.

She is survived by her sons, Kim and Chris Vanover; son-in-law, Sonny Walling; brother, Karl Sallaberger and wife Beate; grandchildren, Jeffrey Walling, Tasha Sims, Joshua Walling, Matthew Walling, Amanda Hopson, Lisa Vanover, Adam Vanover, Steven Vanover, and Olivia Vanover; and many great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Otto officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
