Maria Dolores Mulla, 87, of Gary, TX, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 26, 2017, in Carthage, TX. She was born on March 11, 1930, in Spain to the late Ramon and Francis Zafra Cano. Maria married Joseph Anthony Mulla on June 20, 1957, in Barcelona, Spain. She worked for many years as an ESL teacher for Tenaha I.S.D., a job she loved because she was able to help so many children who couldn't speak English. Mrs. Mulla loved her family dearly and enjoyed sailing. She moved to Carthage in 1979, from Cardiff by the Sea, CA and was a member of the St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage. Mrs. Mulla was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Concha; and brother, Mario.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Mulla of Gary; son, Angelo Mulla and wife Denise of Santa Ysabel, CA; daughters, Maria Dolores Garza and husband Albert of Gary and Rose Frumin of San Marcos, CA; brother, Miguel Cano of San Vicente, Spain; sister, Mercedes Cadafalch and husband Sylvester of Barcelona, Spain; grandchildren, Nathan Furmin, Matthew Mulla and wife Marissa, Lia Horton and husband Anthony, Justin Garza and wife Taylor, and Rachel Carmichael and husband Dan; and great-grandchildren, Asher Horton, Carson Garza, Zoe Horton, Paxton Garza, Jacob Carmichael, Sophia Carmichael, Daniella Carmichael, and Rose Carmichael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church with Father Steve Paradis officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at St. William of Vercelli Catholic Church prior to the funeral mass. Interment will be at Gary Cemetery.
