Obituary

Margreat Liverman, 82, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Monday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2020, at her home in Carthage. Ella Margreat Martin Liverman was the sixth child born on March 2, 1938, to the marriage of Samuel Monroe Martin, Sr. and Idella Bruner Martin. She was born at her Aunt Marie Dubbs home in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was raised in DeBerry, Texas with the exception of a short stay in Galveston, Texas while her dad worked in the shipyards during wartime. Margreat attended school in Galveston, DeBerry, and Carthage. She met and married the love of her life, Bennie George Liverman, from Gary, Texas, on July 23, 1954. Together, they celebrated 36 years, 7 months and 11 days of marriage before his passing on March 3, 1991. Bennie and Margreat were proud to have made a home and raised their two children in Carthage.

Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Margreat also worked outside the home.  She helped her husband Bennie in his plumbing business, B.G. Liverman Master Plumber, she owned and operated L & W Ceramics, worked for Nu-Way and Flag Oil Companies and Jordan Home Health.  Since education was very important to Margreat, she went to work for the Carthage Independent School District as a cafeteria worker, retiring from there after 23 years of service. She also worked during summers for the George Pirtle Boy Scout Camp and Daniel Springs Baptist Encampment.

In Margreat's free time, besides loving and sharing in the lives of her granddaughters, she loved cooking, canning, and baking for her family, friends, and her church mission trips and the church VBS programs. She also loved working in her yard and vegetable gardens, puzzle books, sewing, crafting, quilting, and making crochet cup towels. Margreat gave them away as fast as she made them. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her son, Bennie, Jr. Other trips were enjoyed with her niece and "Heartie" Dorothy Benard of Shreveport.

Margreat was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Carthage. She was a member of the Panola Square Quilting Club, having won several ribbons from their yearly quilting show. She was a member of the Panola County TOPS Club; Margreat was so proud of reaching her weight loss goals, being Queen of the Club, and walking across the stage at the yearly SRD Convention and accepting awards for reaching her goals. Her special friend, Louise Tomlinson, helped by taking her to doctor visits, shopping, club meetings and returning her home since she was no longer able to drive.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by all her siblings; brothers, Howard Allen Martin and Samuel Monroe Martin, Jr.; sisters, Jessie Marie Buchanan, Artie Francis Seaton and Dorothy Bernice Shires; and very close friend for over 40 years, Mrs. Jeane Carter Tyson.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Brenda Gale Liverman White and husband David Eugene White and Bennie George Liverman, Jr. all of Carthage and precious granddaughters and their spouses, Kathleen Elizabeth White and Jeremy Snow of Tyler, Texas, Danielle Elise and Eric Foster of Tatum, Texas, Ashley Marie and Bryan Davis of Whitehouse, Texas, and Michelle Ella-Hazel White of Pearland, Texas. Margreat did not think she could be any happier until her great-grandchildren started to arrive, Keylee Rae, Carter Allen, and Kortlyn Jade Foster of Tatum, Elena Joy, and due in January of 2021, Alice Quinn Davis of Whitehouse. Margreat is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Marie Ross of Carthage and a great number of nieces, nephews and their spouses, great-nieces, great-nephews and their spouses, and a host of many co-workers and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020 at Gary Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Officiating her graveside service will be her friend, Bro. Rodney Puryear, of Woods New Hope Baptist Church in the Woods Community. Following Margreat's graveside service, a meal celebrating her life will be hosted by Bro. Don Cocklin of the First Christian Church in Carthage. Following the meal catered by Circle M Café of Carthage, there will be scriptures and a special reading led by Bro. Freddy Mason of Cedar Grove Baptist Church of the Snap Community.

In lieu of food and flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in her name to things that were special to her; The Sammy Brown Library, your church mission trips, or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) as a gift to continue research for a cure.

Three things that Margreat would like said about her life is "She lived, she laughed, and she loved!" She would like for you to do the same in your life.
