A funeral service of Mrs. Margie Jean Anderson Ray, 90, of the Shady Grove Community, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Prather officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ray passed away on Monday night, Jan. 19, 2015, in Marshall.

Margie Jean Anderson Ray was born on Dec. 26, 1924, in Panola County, TX to the late Samuel Bellamy "S.B." Anderson, Sr. and Ealy Belle Hickey Anderson. She graduated from Carthage High School and attended Centenary College where she earned a degree in nursing. Mrs. Ray married Henry C. Ray on May 30, 1948, in DeBerry and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1968. She worked as a registered nurse at Panola General Hospital until her retirement. Mrs. Ray lived all of her life in Panola County and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara and Susan Moreland; granddaughter, Jaime Cox Halcumb; and numerous siblings.

Mrs. Ray is survived by one son, Terry Ray and wife Teresa; three daughters, Helen Mercer and husband James, Martha Cox and husband James, and Beth Ray all of Shady Grove; two sons-in-law, Charlie and Ricky Moreland; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Ray.

Pallbearers are Clay Cox, Len Ray, Jeremy Ray, Dylan Mercer, Braxton Cox, and Brannon Moreland.

Honorary pallbearer is Eric Ware.
