Margie Morton, 82, of the Snap Community in Panola County, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, 2020, at her home in Snap. Margie Dell Swatsell was born on June 17, 1938, in Franklin County, TX to the late Marvin Clifford and Delma Rita Safford Swatsell. She married Billy Joe Morton on Dec. 3, 1956, in Clovis, NM. Mrs. Morton lived in the Snap Community for the past 50 years and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church family and was called "Mo" by all who knew and loved her.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hollie Swatsell.

Mrs. Morton is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billy Joe Morton of Snap; son, Michael Joe Morton and wife Joana Beason Morton of Avinger; daughter, Leann Marshall and husband Barry of Snap; sisters-in-law, Polly Swatsell of Como, TX and Linda Garrison and her husband Felix of Waskom; aunt, Juanita Attaway of Yantis, TX; grandchildren, Kristi Downing and husband Nathan, Randy Marshall and wife Crystal, Laura Morton, Holly Bonner and husband David, and Michael Patrick Morton and wife Brittney; and great-grandchildren, Carson and Claire Downing, Halle and Caston Bonner, Addison Gojanovich, Cameron and Brett Marshall, and Macie and Allie Morton.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Six Mile Cemetery with Bro. Freddy Mason officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Monday at the cemetery prior to the graveside service.

Pallbearers are Mike Morton, Barry Marshall, Randy Marshall, Patrick Morton, Nathan Downing, and David Bonner.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Clovis Williams and Mercy Odom for their loving care of our Mo. Also our deep gratitude to Alysha Cockerham and the staff of Heart's Way Hospice for their professional and personal care provided to Mrs. Morton.
