Maggie Leach , 89, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Friday morning, October 7, 2022. Ella Maggie Leach was born on October 27, 1932, in Comanche County, Texas to the late Pete Jefferson and Maude Myrtle Clark Leach. Although Maggie had no children of her own, she loved all children and was a second grandmother to many. She devoted her life to caregiving for Arnold Berry from the time he was 6 years old until he preceded her in death when he was 47 years old. A very important part of her life was reading her Bible and going to church. Maggie also loved to read and work puzzle books. She was a member of the Sanctuary of Pentecost in Carthage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Marie Chaney, Frank Leach, Clifford Leach, Billy Pete Leach, and Doris Braswell; and extended family, Ernest Berry, Margaret Berry Ratcliff, Donald Ratcliff, and Arnold Berry.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great, nieces and nephews; and great-great, nieces and nephews; her extended family, Harlon and Louise Dyke, Alton Berry, and Dr. Evelyn Ratcliff Drury and husband Rev. Steve Drury; and from her extended family, numerous nieces and nephews; great, nieces and nephews; and great-great, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Landtroop officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 12, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.
