Obituary

Funeral services for Ms. Mable "Aunt Mable" Hill, age 91 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Hill, Rev. Mark Fletcher, and Rev. Tyson Musser officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Ms. Hill passed away on Sunday morning, December 14, 2008 in Carthage.

Mable Diamond Hill was born on June 6, 1917 in the Centerpoint Community of Panola County, Texas to William Jared and Ellie Lou Moore Hill. She attended school at Harris Chapel and Beckville. Ms. Hill started her work career with the WPA Sewing Room in Carthage in 1937. Shortly thereafter, she began her legacy of serving Panola County as a waitress for over four decades. Most residents remember her as a fixture at the Coffee Shop as she opened it for business each day for many years. She also worked at John Logan's Outlet for nine years. Ms. Hill was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she held many garage sales to benefit the church and was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class. Ms. Hill was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Carthage. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble and Tollie Hill; and one sister, Ruby Lawrence.

Ms. Hill is survived by one sister, Dimple Collins of Carthage and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Tollie W. Hill of Renton, Washington. She also leaves a myriad of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews to carry her legacy of unconditional love and a willingness to help those in need of a helping hand.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Musser, Ty Musser, Mark Fletcher, Kerry Hill, Gentry Hill, and Patrick Hamilton. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the TEL Sunday School Class at Southside Baptist Church.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff, nurses, and aides at Carthage Healthcare for their loving care and attention.
