Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Humphries, age 75, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Earl Cantrelle, Rev. Keefe Cropper, and Rev. Leah Hanks officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Humphries passed away on Saturday morning, July 14, 2012, in Carthage.
Clare Lucille Brown Humphries was born on Jan. 29, 1937, in Gary, TX, to Otha Alvie and Lela Katherine Lampin Brown. Mrs. Humphries attended Carthage schools and Panola College. She married James Leslie Humphries on May 23, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2002. Mrs. Humphries lived all of her life in Panola County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage where she worked as the church secretary for many years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Leslie Humphries, Jr. in 1982; and four brothers, Alvie, Marion, Raymond, and Sanford Brown.
Mrs. Humphries is survived by one son, Kevin Humphries and wife Lisa and three grandchildren, Michael, Alec, and Hannah Humphries all of Carthage.
Serving as pallbearers are David Johnson, John Rittenberry, Cliff Townsend, Bob Fleming, Wayne Sheffield, and Tony Sheffield.
