Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Porter Bowen, age 78 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Cocklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Bowen passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 at her home in Carthage.

Lucille Porter Bowen was born on April 15, 1929 in Panola County, Texas to Homer Alvin and Opal Willis Elizabeth Langley Porter. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1945. Lucille married Jack Simeon Bowen on September 21, 1945 in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary. She worked as an examiner in the Bond Department at the State of Texas Comptroller's Office.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack S. Bowen of Carthage, Texas; two sons, Jack E. Bowen and wife Cris of Orlando, Florida and Ronald Ray Bowen and wife Dr. Linda Bowen of Magnolia, Texas; three daughters, Deborah Jean Bradshaw of Manor, Texas, Edythe Elizabeth Smith and husband Douglas of Denver, Colorado, and Rebecca Sue Bowen of Carthage, Texas; one brother Homer Patrick Porter and wife Linda of Carthage, Texas; one sister, Dr. Edythe Jean Porter of Carthage, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Will Scott Bowen, Robert Kyle Bowen, Christopher Ray Bowen, Cory Bowen, Jackie Bradshaw, Gregory Bradshaw, Judd Taylor, Wesley Taylor, Kyle Smith, Alexander Smith, and Bryana Stewart; and eight great-grandchildren, Amber, Sadie, Cody, Leanne, and Isabella Bradshaw and Lindsey, Jaden Ray, and Angela Bowen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Bradshaw, Will Scott Bowen, Christopher Bowen, Justin Knight, Jesse Ross, and Chris Jones. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Lynn Vincent, Harold Hawkins, and Jack Bradshaw.
