Services for Loyd Marcelle "Short" Pipkin, 84 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 16, 2010 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas. Rev. Ted Short will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. Mr. Pipkin passed away in Carthage, Texas on Thursday, August 12, 2010. Arrangements in Carthage were entrusted to Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Loyd Marcelle "Short" Pipkin was born on May 28, 1926, in Turkey, Texas to Loyd Orum and Virgie Mae Richardson Pipkin. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Pipkin married Ola Belle Fultz on March 25, 1946, Harrison, Arkansas. He worked as a welder. Mr. Pipkin moved to Carthage, Texas in 1998, from Andrews, Texas and was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church in Panola County, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gerry England; one grandson, Tommy Gatlin; and one daughter, Lavoyce Gatlin.

Mr. Pipkin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ola Belle Pipkin of Carthage; one daughter, Delores Wilkerson and husband John of Giddings; two sisters, Wannavee Done of Stockton, California and Jodi McGarvey of Stockton, California; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
