Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Hicks Shepherd, age 76, of Beckville, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Bethel C.M.E. Church in Beckville, with Rev. Donald E. Daniels, Sr. officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery near Beckville. Mrs. Shepherd's body will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at the funeral home. Mrs. Shepherd passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 2010, in Carthage.
Louise Hicks Shepherd was born on Dec. 21, 1933, in Panola County, TX to Ralton and Elberta Jinks Hicks. She graduated from Sunset High School in Beckville with the class of 1954. Mrs. Shepherd married Joe Abner Shepherd on June 19, 1954 in Beckville and he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1996. She worked as a custodian at Beckville I.S.D. for many years. Mrs. Shepherd enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and being with her family. She lived her lifetime in Beckville, where she was a member of the Bethel C.M.E. Church. Mrs. Shepherd was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Andrew Shepherd; two brothers, Neal and Perman Hicks; and one sister, Bobbie Jean Hart Holland.
Mrs. Shepherd is survived by two sons, Vernon Joe Sheppard and Joe Abner Shepherd, Jr. both of Beckville; two brothers, Louis Hicks and wife Pauline and Ralph Hicks and wife Nelva all of Beckville; three sisters, Desser Mae Green and Bennie Lee Jackson both of Tacoma, Washington, and Cleo Campbell and husband William of Dallas; four grandchildren, Shwonia Brown Woodard, Vernon Andre Brown, Terrence Dewayne Sheppard, and Lydia Annette Sheppard; and four great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Shepherd.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Glen Hicks, Brinson Adams, Alvin Hicks, Jr., Robert Adams, Lyndell Hicks, and Bobby Lynn Blankenship.
