Funeral services for Mr. Louis Bardell Harvey, age 73 of the Murvaul Community, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dale Reed and Brother Bobby Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Murvaul Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Harvey passed away on Monday, December 25, 2006 in Carthage, Texas.
Louis Bardell Harvey was born on September 27, 1933 in Panola County, Texas to O. C. "Badie" and Maybelle Jeffress Harvey. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1950. Mr. Harvey married Mattie Jane Armstrong on December 17, 1952 in Carthage, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. Mr. Harvey worked at Crown Cork and Seal in Longview where he retired as shipping manager. He was the past president of the Panola County Farm Bureau for over 35 years and enjoyed visiting with the members at all the get togethers. Mr. Harvey loved to hunt, fish, and tinker. He was of the Baptist faith and had lived his lifetime in Panola County. Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by his father, O. C. "Badie" Harvey.
Mr. Harvey is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mattie Jane Harvey of the Murvaul Community; his mother, Maybelle Jeffress Gregoire of Carthage; three sons, Roger Louis Harvey of Santa Fe, Texas, Timmy Lynn Harvey of the Pleasant Ridge Community, and Paul Leslie Harvey and wife Pam of the Murvaul Community; two sisters, Janelle Washburn of Tatum and Laverle Ellis and husband Floyd of Tyler; four grandchildren, Traci Mazingo, Robby Harvey and wife Brooke, Garrett Harvey, and Badie Harvey; one great-grandchild, Wyatte Mazingo. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Harvey.
Serving as pallbearers are A. J. Reed, Sam Miller, Gary Guthrie, Brad Peterson, Mike Mason, Sydney Burns, Mike Railey, and Mo Gray.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Baize, Pete Parrish, H. L. Hodge, John Dale Jeffress, and the board members of the Panola County Farm Bureau.
