Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Velma Hall, age 84 of DeBerry, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Glenn Hood, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Deadwood. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Hall passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at her home in DeBerry.
Lou Velma Adams Hall was born on May 6, 1923 in Panola County, Texas to Alex and Corrie Wise Adams. Mrs. Hall married Alvin Hall on November 23, 1940 in Panola County and together they celebrated over 57 years of marriage. In 1951, Mrs. Hall graduated from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was employed as a Physical Education teacher with the Carthage Independent School District for 37 years. She was a member of the Texas Retired Teacher's Association. Mrs. Hall had lived her lifetime in Panola County. She was a member of Saint Rest Baptist Church in DeBerry where she served as assistant secretary for many years. She loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hall who passed away on January 12, 1998; one daughter, Velma Ray Walton; two brothers, John L. Adams and Alex Adams; and two sisters, Ollie Roberson and Connie Ballard.
Mrs. Hall is survived by one son, Sammy Hall of DeBerry; one step-son, Alvin Hall, Jr. and wife Earlene of Dallas; two step-daughters, Gladys Sowel of Dallas and Earnestine Beck and husband Louis L. of California; two grandchildren raised by Mrs. Hall, Diane Brooks and husband John L. of DeBerry and Danny Joe Walton and wife Alisha of Garland; three sisters, Bertha Macon of Texarkana, Margie Washington of DeBerry, and Eunice Cridell of Texarkana; and two step-sisters, Veda Mae Champion of Gary and Willie V. Burton of Keithville, Louisiana; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Hall.
