A funeral service for Mrs. Loraine Godwin, 88, of Deadwood, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Gunstanson and Bro. Ron Luman officiating. Interment will follow in Deadwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Godwin passed away on Jan. 22, 2014, in Carthage surrounded by her loving family.

Loraine Dickerson Godwin was born on Aug. 10, 1925, in Deadwood, TX to the late William Albert and Tommie Briggs Dickerson. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1942. Mrs. Godwin earned her LVN at Panola College. She worked at Panola General Hospital in the nursery until her retirement. Mrs. Godwin married Glendon "Glen" Godwin and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2005. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, canning, and cooking. Mrs. Godwin was a longtime member of the Deadwood United Pentecostal Church. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence Rodney, John, and Thomas Dickerson, and Boyce Brown and four sisters, Willie Mae Rinkle, Eula B. Farmer, Dorothy Luman, and Jane Luman.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sible Roethke and Lora Jane Taylor for the loving care shown to Mrs. Godwin over the past 9 years.

Serving as pallbearers are Bruce Lee, Steven Luman, Rodney Luman, Gene Dickerson, Terry Luman, and Ron Luman.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Ricky Luman, Stephen Luman, Jeff Dickerson, Royce Hill, Dwight Taylor, Charles Roethke, and Conley Brown.
