Graveside services for Mrs. Rebecca Screws, age 85 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Walton Cemetery in the Del Ray Community of Panola County, with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Screws passed away on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2009, in Carthage.

Lora Rebecca Bruce Screws was born on June 9, 1923 in Marshall, Texas to Ed and Elma Carpenter Bruce. She worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for many years. She moved to Carthage in 1990 from Daingerfield. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Carthage. Mrs. Screws was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Cornelius Ryder and Edward C. Screws; one daughter, Connie Campbell; and one sister, Marie McGilvray.

Mrs. Screws is survived by two sons, Jim Ryder of Lubbock and Mark Ryder; one grandson, Tyler Ryder; and two sisters, Edie George Hayes of Houston and Margaret Wilson of Harleton.
