Lonnie Gene Reed, 78, of Carthage, formerly of Colorado City, TX, passed away on Friday morning, July 8, 2016, in Carthage. He was born on Feb. 8, 1938, in Champion, TX to the late Leonard Alexander and Lou Mae Ussery Reed. Lonnie worked in road construction and was of the Methodist faith. He loved traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gaston Reed, Glendon Reed, and Leonard Reed, Jr.; and sister, Rita Calhoun.

Survivors include his son, Lonnie Alexander Reed and wife Bridgett of Carthage; daughters, Sandra Reed of Gilmer and Cathy Reed of Marshall; brothers, Charles Reed of Eastland and Kenneth Reed and wife Barbara of Roscoe; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 3-5 p.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
